State Registration & Licenses

Our Veterans Assistance Counselors help veterans and their families receive benefits for which they qualify. General eligibility requirements include military service and Louisiana state residency. Specific programs may have additional requirements. Spouses and dependents of deceased veterans who meet eligibility requirements may also be eligible for certain programs and services.

Discounts for licenses and state parks

• The LDVA Disabled Veteran Hunting/Fishing License Form must be filled out and signed by the veteran and all requested information provided, including:
  • • Copy of valid Driver’s License or State ID
    • Proof of permanent VA disability rating of 50% or more (can be a VA Rating Decision, a My VA Letter, etc.)
    • Veterans requiring a hunter certification number, please visit: wlf.louisiana.gov

    • LDVA will certify the application and email the completed application to LWF (through lifetime@wlf.la.gov, noting “Disabled Veteran” in the email subject line) , where LDWF will certify and send the veteran his/her initial hunting/fishing license.
    • Each year after that, the veteran may purchase that new year’s hunting/fishing license either online on your website or in person at any one of the retailers listed at your hunting or recreational fishing license listing on your website under https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/recreational-fishing-licenses-and-permits

    Louisiana residents may also use this process or visit our website (at www.vetaffairs.la.gov/locations/) to find their local VAC office to have their LDVA form certified. LDVA will forward the application to LDWF for certification on a veteran’s initial licensing. LWF pays the nominal fee for both resident and non-resident disabled veterans hunting and recreational fishing licenses, so that these licenses are free to the veteran.
